Joanne Burrows

Joanne Burrows completed a Bachelor of Arts, major in music, at the University of Queensland, studying composition and music history with Colin Brumby, Robert Boughen and Helen Stowasser.  Joanne completed a Diploma of Teaching and spent over twenty years teaching classroom music in Queensland and NSW, during which she composed and arranged music for various school groups.

In 1986 Joanne moved to Wagga Wagga, NSW, where she continued classroom teaching, alongside teaching piano, theory, recorder and voice, at the Riverina Conservatorium of Music.  Joanne has been composing music for her students to perform for many years.  In 2012 she was encouraged to make her compositions and arrangements available for a wider group.

Joanne is currently Head of Piano and Music Craft at the Conservatorium and Chair of the Curriculum Committee, developing a curriculum for instrumental teachers.  In 2009 Joanne was on the committee of the 10th Australasian Piano Pedagogy Conference (APPC), hosted in Wagga Wagga in 2011.
