Part of the Osanna Mass which is based on the set of plainchants for the Mass IX in the Liber Usualis.  The plainchant appears initially in a slow canon at the interval of the minor second, and, as it sets the text in the original and less familiar Hebrew, is an expression of the darkness that is the excess of light of God's holiness.  The Mass won the Australian Art Music award for vocal/choral composition in 2012.

I first met Henry Kendall’s poem September in Australia when I was in primary school, and lines from it have haunted me over the 70-odd years since. The idea of making a choral setting struck me in September 2022, and after reading the poem again I decided to extract four of the eight stanzas to do this. I have tried to do justice to Kendall’s imagery, as well as some of what seemed to me to be meanings hinted at in the poem.
