On the Run

By Alice Bannan

Regular price $10.00 Sale

Piano solo, c.0'55.  Early Grade

This energetic and flashy piece tells the story of an exciting escape, such as a mouse running away from a cat or a high-speed car chase through city streets.  Both hands play matching chromatics which are only a semi-tone apart, giving the piece a distinctive, edgy sound.  In On The Run, the student works their way across the whole piano keyboard, making it a fantastic performance piece.

        On the shores of Aswan

        By Ann Carr-boyd

        Regular price $25.00 Sale

Clarinet and piano,  c.5'30, suggested grade 8

Much of the piece has a driving rhythm which should be adhered to, however, there is a great deal of room for personal interpretation and rubato - performers should feel free to enter into the spirit of the piece, which has jazz overtones. Composed 1996

On the Sorrow of War - CD

        By Rachel Tolmie

        Regular price $25.00 Sale

1The title of this CD was inspired by the story of HMAS Sydney and her final sea-battle with the German raider HSK Kormoranon November 19, 1941. This poignant and most magnificent writing by Peter Webb, for cor anglais, voice and orchestra, concludes the recording.  While in contrast, more light-hearted works by Peter Webb, Paul Paviour, Brett M McKern and John Martin for cor anglais and piano are performed by Rachel Tolmie and pianist John Martin.

Wind nonet (2 piccolos, 4 flutes, 2 Alto flutes, Bass flute), c.8'00

Sonorities within the piece suggest both the sounds of lots of birds sitting on overhead wires and the sounds of lots of data coming down a telephone wire.

        On To the Field

        By Andrew Batterham

        Regular price $190.00 Sale

Wind band and pipe organ c.13'00.

On to the field, our doom is sealed,
            To conquer or be slaves;
The sun shall see our country free.
            Or set upon our graves!

These words were attributed to Timothy Hayes, a participant in the Eureka Stockade uprising in 1854. He was chairman of the Ballarat Reform League, helping to convene the Monster Meetings on Bakery Hill that took place around a large flag pole that would soon fly the Southern Cross.
