The thought behind these six preludes is to provide a variety of musical ideas, thematic, harmonic and technical, that are appealing to performer, teacher and student alike. This set of six preludes are evocative in some way of scenes or activities that feature water. They have been titled accordingly. True to the prelude form, each piece is based on a specific idea both musical and technical, and in some ways each piece could be considered a ‘mini-etude’ that could be used to strengthen certain aspects of technique.
