32 Variations for Piano on Happy Birthday

From JS Bach to Elena Kats-Chernin - for piano solo.

Happy Birthday is attributed to two American sisters, Patty and Mildred Hill, who penned it in the 1880s. 

The 32 variations run in order of each composer’s birth date, starting in the Baroque Period, and ending with current composers alive and working today. For fun the composer has appropriated between one and five of each composer’s best-known works, 86 in all, into medleys, then altered them to include fragments of the Happy Birthday tune in subtle, and sometimes, not so subtle ways.

The volume includes a collection of photographs taken by Donaldson.
