After Midnight draws on sounds heard on the street late at night. A fairly busy thoroughfare in the day, late at night street sounds are close and distant, real and distorted – a motor bike on the distant highway, the boobook’s call and response, a siren, the rumble of distant thunder, someone running, music fragments from a faraway party, an insect or frog, and a bell.
