Everyone loves a good road trip - the excitement and expectation as The Journey begins, the feeling of freedom on the open road, the anticipation of what lies around the bend, the indecisiveness when choosing a road to take, the anxiety of being lost, at night, on a lonely lane, and finally the welcoming familiarity of the homeward adventure.
Life, like the “road trip” is a journey, with its hope of something new, its spectacular vistas, its twists and turns, of unknown and exhilarating choices, its darkness when we feel we’ve made a wrong turn and the sense of homecoming when it ‘all comes together’.
The metaphor is played out here in this six-piece suite, of intermediate studies featuring both minor and major keys with modulatory explorations.
