That Bloody Game

By Michael Halliwell, David Miller

Regular price $25.00 Sale

Australian World War I Songs performed by baritone Michael Halliwell and pianist David Miller.  The songs in this collection respond to the changing circumstances of the war. From recruitment in Australia, songs written for the precise purpose of getting men to join up, sometimes shaming them into doing so! For Australia, Gallipoli was the first 'big event' of the war, and then to the Dardanelles, and to France; to the home front and how the war affected civilians and celebrating the return of the forces. The songs also reflect the more serious side to which classical composers of the time responded to the war so creating many outstanding songs that can be heard on this recording.
The CD booklet portrays many of the original covers from the songs' scores.

There is a Solitude

By Jane Hammond

Regular price $15.00 Sale

Solo piano c.400

Composed 2016
Inspired by the poem There is a Solitude of Space by Emily Dickinson.

There is a solitude of space
      A solitude of sea
A solitude of death, but these
      Society shall be
      Compared with that profounder site
      That polar privacy
A soul admitted to itself --
      Finite infinity.

They, who fly with wings of glass

By Peter Wilson

Regular price $30.00 Sale

For bass flute and cello.  Grade - A.Mus

I was fascinated by the idea of freedom and beauty versus fragility and mortality. With these parameters in mind, I constructed the phrase they, who fly with wings of glass. This title has impacted directly on architectural and strictly musical parameters, informing the choice of instrumentation, colour, register, mood and form. PW

Thinking Allowed

By Phillip Wilcher

Regular price $50.00 Sale

A life in conversation with itself

Within the learnedness of this most discerning and singularly profound truth dwells a humanness so vast in liberty and limitation, that it denies us any false face we might choose to show to the world in order to shun our truth, favouring more the integrity of our most integrated selves, the common presence present that is of a oneness inherent to all.

Only through the realization of our finest virtues, can we divine a way to endure with courage and compassion, the fullness of our humanity and all its frailties.

Through writing music I composed who I was becoming;
through composing words I now write of who I am.

If I am the sum total of my contradictions,
          this is my truth.
